Leaked Images Show Off Sony’s New Advanced Amateur Cameras

These leaked press images, purportedly direct from Sony, show off two of the company’s hopes for luring in advanced amateurs — with entry-level interchangeable lens cameras.

Snagged by Digicam Info, the images show off two purported new cameras. On the left is the Alpha A58, packing ergonomic tweaks, a new 18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6 II kit lens and — if rumours are to be believed — a 20-megapixel sensor, 8fps shooting speed, new focusing system and $US600 price tag.

On the right is a new mirrorless camera called the NEX-3N. More compact than previous NEX cameras, it’s rumoured to feature a 16-50mm power zoom lens, 16.1-megapixel APS-C sensor and a price tag of $US500-$US600. All those facts and figures are, of course, still to be taken with a gain or two of salt. As yet there’s no suggestions as to when they might appear in the wild. [Digicam Info]
