After a false start earlier this week, streaming app Stan is available on Apple TV.
Stan’s launch onto Apple TV represents the first push by the streaming service into a native app on a device that isn’t a tablet or a smartphone.
Stan is at somewhat of a disadvantage to Netflix, given that Netflix has apps for just about every smart TV ever made.
Its appearance on the Apple TV homepage is a start to producing more ways in which to access to Stan platform.
Stan’s CEO, Mike Sneesby, said in a press release this morning that more customers had asked for the service to be on Apple TV since launch than any other platform. That’s why Apple’s streaming box got first dibs for a native app.
“Apple TV is a critical platform for leading streaming services and has always been a high priority in our development roadmap,” Sneesby added.
You’ll be able to access the Stan app from your Apple TV today from the home screen.
Disclosure: Stan is a 50/50 joint venture between Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media. Allure Media, the company which publishes Gizmodo Australia, is also owned by Fairfax.
