Video: The Space Between Us is one of the most intriguing sci-fi films due this year. It’s about the first human who’s born in outer space, thus technically making him an alien — how he deals with that, how humanity deals with that and a romance that blossoms as a result.
Directed by Peter Chelsom, The Space Between Us is scheduled for release August 25. Here’s the first trailer.
Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) and Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland) star as the kids at the centre of this interplanetary romance, while Gary Oldman and Carla Gugino provide other perspectives. What I love about this trailer, and the idea of the movie as a whole, is that it feels so familiar but is so different. There are elements of so many films in that trailer and yet, the human spin on this alien story is truly intriguing. I don’t yet know if it can live up to the potential, but the trailer absolutely has me excited.
