David S. Goyer’s Superman prequel for the Syfy channel, Krypton, has found its female lead in actress Georgina Campbell. If the pilot makes it to series, she’ll make her US TV debut, though she’s a BAFTA winner for her work in her native England, and will appear in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword next year.

On Krypton, she’ll play the daughter of General Zod, “reluctant warrior” Lyta Zod. As Deadline explains:
Based on the DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos.
Campbell’s Lyta Zod is a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general — that would be Superman’s future nemesis, General Zod, Lyta Zod serves as a cadet — and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El (not cast yet).
This confirms our earlier suspicions that Krypton would feature a romance between Lyta Zod and Seg-El. The show — which sounds bonkers, and we really hope it makes it to the airwaves for that reason alone — will shoot its pilot in Serbia soon.
