The Witcher Season 3 Is Split Into 2 Parts and Drops This Winter

Political intrigue, magical monsters, and more “Hm”s than you can shake a sword at, the first teaser trailer for The Witcher, season 3, is out now. We don’t see much (it is a teaser trailer,) but the focus on the Geralt/Yennifer/Ciri family unit means that we’re going to have a ton of drama. Take a peek below.

So we’ve got the gang in a magic labyrinth, a journey to Aretuza, and terrifying shadow-knights (also known as the Wild Hunt, or the Wraiths of Mörhogg in the Witcher world) chasing Ciri through a forest. Honestly I dig the focus here. Everyone is wondering what Cavill is going to deliver for his final season as Geralt, and we’ve got the makings of another epic bit of television. Would I have enjoyed a little more Jaskier? Yes, of course, I’m human.

And, you know what, I loved season one, enjoyed season two, and I hope that season three will remain a solid fantasy show. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the executive producer and showrunner, and the directors this season are Stephen Surjik, Gandja Monteiro, Loni Peristere, and Bola Ogun. The main cast include Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla “Ciri” of Cintra, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.

The Witcher Season 3 Volume 1 will include episodes 1-5 and will be released globally on June 29. The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 will include episodes 6-8, released July 27.
