Rockstar Games is taking a technological leap forward with their upcoming game L.A. Noire. Using a motion capture technology called MotionScan, they’re able to capture and render actor’s performances for the upcoming 1940s crime drama with breathtaking results.
Watch the trailer and see just how accurate the lip sync is on the rendered actors. Even during the best pre-rendered cut scenes from previous games we’ve never seen acting as realistic as this.
The MotionScan technology itself uses 32 HD cameras to record an actor’s performance at up to 30 frames per second, bringing real-life acting to the video game world, adding a whole new meaning to the notion of immersive environments.
And the best part is, L.A. Noire is being developed here in Sydney by Team Bondi. Make no mistake, this is going to be a game-changer.
