The iPod Touch Is Four Today

TUAW reminded me that (date differences notwithstanding) today’s the fourth birthday of the first generation iPod touch. Is it just me, or does it seem like it’s been around a lot longer than that?

The first generation iPod touch was introduced on September 5, 2007; allowing for that pesky international date line that’s today, local time. Steve Jobs was his usual relaxed presenting self (which you can see below), although I’m not entirely convinced by his quip stating that it’s one of the seven wonders of the world. This was an era before iOS, before the App store; all you could do with an iPod touch was basic (flash-free) web surfing, YouTube, Video and manage calendar appointments. No mail at launch; that wouldn’t come until 2008.

I’ve got a first generation iPod touch on my desk right now, and despite the sealed battery, it’s still going quite well. Where should I take it out to celebrate its birthday?[TUAW]
