How To Watch The Oscars Online, Live And Free, In Australia

Today is Oscars day. Are you ready for La La Land to clean up? Even though Hidden Figures should win pretty much everything, and not just because it’s about rockets?

On TV

The best way to watch the Oscars live on free-to-air TV is on Channel Nine throughout the country. Nine’s coverage starts at 12:30PM AEDT when the ceremony officially begins in Hollywood. If you have a subscription to Foxtel, you can watch the red carpet pre-show from 8:30AM on E! Entertainment (channel 125) and then switch to 9HD (channel 209) or 9 (channel 100) to watch the show itself.

Online

You can watch the Oscars live and free online using Channel Nine’s 9Now live streaming player. You will need an account, though, so make sure you’ve created one beforehand so you don’t miss any of the big event. You can also log in via Facebook. On your Mac or PC, you can watch Foxtel using the Foxtel Play app — again, for the pre-show on E! and the main event on Channel Nine.

On Mobile

On mobile, watching via the 9Now app for iOS or Android is your best bet. If you’re watching on Foxtel, you’ll want the Foxtel Go app — here it is on iOS and Android.
