Netgear’s new Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR 500 WiFi router is now available for pre-order, and is promising to cut lag and enhance gameplay “to provide a whole new level of speed, performance, personalisation and control”.

The standout features of the XR500 include a gaming dashboard, where you can see which devices is using how much bandwidth (in real time), and ping delays, and “many other parameters”. There’s a geo filter for limiting distance to servers or other players, so you get a guaranteed local connection with less lag. you can also create black/white lists of your preferred servers.

There’s the ability to prioritise your gaming devices, use up to four Gigabite LAN ports for wired connections, there’s 802.11ac WiFi (use Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) for simultaneous streaming, Quad-Stream, and 160MHz for faster speeds) and there’s a Dual-Core 1.7GHz Processor, too, so you can support more devices for better 4K streaming, VR gaming etc.

AC2600 WiFi allows up to 800+1733 Mbps wireless speed, and doubles the available bandwidth with simultaneous dual-band WiFi.

There are our external antennas, 256 MB flash and 512 MB RAM and Beamforming+ promising a more reliable connections for fewer drops.
