That’s right – beloved Kindle alternative Kobo just launched a monthly audiobook subscription for Aussies.
If you’ve ever used other audiobook services Kobo’s offering will look familiar – there’s books across all genres, including bestsellers like the Harry Potter series, and new titles are added weekly.
You can search the whole catalogue, recommended titles based on classics, the best new releases and bestsellers, or by narrator or style. Based on your ebook preferences, you’ll get personal recommendations, too.
It costs $12.99 per month to sign up, and there’s a 30-day free trial period. You can buy books as you wish, or use your monthly subscription credit for any audiobook on the service – even if its list price is higher. There’s also a price match guarantee.
“Last year, we built the Kobo Aura One eReader with the help of our best customers, and our new offering is no different,” says Michael Tamblyn, CEO, Rakuten Kobo Inc. “What we unequivocally heard was that they wanted the best deal on audiobooks, and we are pleased to offer the lowest subscription price available.”
All your eBooks and audiobooks are accessible from the one app, and the player keeps your place, shows you how much time is left at a glance, and lets you choose your preferred narration speed. The player can also be set to turn off after a set amount of time so you can listen before going to sleep.
