Tucked into a Variety article listing several international projects that will be made in France — thanks to the country’s generous tax rebates on animation work — was this interesting bit of info: Marvel Animation is working on a pair of TV shorts series, Ant-Man and Rocket and Groot.

Both series are being made by French filmmakers. The team behind Ant-Man is Ugo Bienvenu and Kevin Manach, whose retro, graphic style seems just perfect, as evidenced by this compilation of their works:
Meanwhile, Rocket and Groot is being directed by Arnaud Delord; his work online is mostly of the music-video variety, but still seems visually quirky enough to capably handle telling the adventures of a badass raccoon and a giant tree.
Other animated projects heading to France to take advantage of those sweet tax breaks include feature films like DreamWorks Animation’s Captain Underpants (an adaptation of the children’s book series), and Paramount and MGM’s Johnny Depp-starring sequel to Gnomeo & Juliet, which is titled Sherlock Gnomes. Merci buckets for that one, France.
