By now, there’s a Guinness World Record for just about any random accomplishment you can think of, including “most functional gadgets on a cos-play suit”. This record is currently held by Ireland’s Julian Checkley, who managed to cram 23 different contraptions into his impressive Batsuit.
His costume isn’t quite as impressive as Batman’s actual getup, but the caped crusader also benefits from technologies that only exist in comic books, or with the help of Hollywood special effects. Everything Checkley has included on his Batsuit actually works, and he’s done a good job at making it all blend in to the rest of his costume. Here’s the full list of gadgets that earned him the Guinness World Record:
- Fireball shooter
- Gauntlet video screens
- Bat tracking beacon
- Batsignal projector
- Folding batarang
- Grapnel gun
- Cowl respirator
- Pneumatic tranquiliser gun
- Ultrasonic anti-dog device
- Bat shurikens
- UV lamp
- Ball bearing grenades
- Gauntlet flashlight
- Medical kit
- Battery pack
- Laser designator
- Bat-cam
- Strobe stun gun
- Gas dispenser
- Smoke bombs
- Bat flask
- Concealed laryngeal microphone
- Two-way radio
We can’t help but raise an eyebrow over the ‘Bat flask’ being recognised as an official Bat-gadget, but even the Dark Knight must need the occasional hit of liquid courage to keep battling supervillains.
