Video: Dang. This is some truly gorgeous footage.
The time lapse captures the slow movement of coral in all its glory. You can see the spectacular colours, track the balletic movement and just watch these sea animals (that look more like alien creatures or otherworldly galaxies, mind you) come alive. I basically lost myself watching it.
Antonio Rodríguez Canto took over 25,000 photos of coral for more than a year to come up with the photographs to make the video. About the specific coral species he photographed, he writes:
Acantophyllia, Trachiphyllia, Heteropsammia, Physogyra, Fungia, Zoanthus, Duncanopsammia, Goniopora, Plerogyra and Scolimia are some of the species that I recorded to create this video-time lapse.
The soundtrack of the video is Atmostra III by Cedric Baravaglio, Jonathan Ochmann and Zdravko Djordjevic.
