Smoke, lightning, clouds, dramatic score, volcano. It’s not the opening of Lord of the Rings – it’s an amazing video of the Icelandic volcano Grímsvötn erupting, shot by Jon Gustafsson.
Shot from a helicopter just 8km out, right before a 32km radius around the volcano was declared a no-fly zone, Gustafsson says he hasn’t even “really had time to watch the video”. Which is unfortunate, because he’s missing out – especially because he’s possibly one of the few to have been able to capture this kind of footage up close.
