Bad news if you like Earth unthreatened by crazy people wielding nukes: Iran just claimed significant advancements to its nuclear weapons program.
Iran’s got some new uranium enrichment centrifuges, which will let it produce fuel-grade uranium faster. It also just loaded its first batch of domestically produced fuel into a research reactor. That’s important, as imported fuel has run dry, with the rest of the world trying desperately to dissuade Iran from pursuing nuclear weapons with assorted sanctions and resolutions.
Nothing’s worked so far, though, not even the otherworldly-advanced Stuxnet. While these latest moves don’t give Iran boom-boom powers just yet, progress is progress and there’s little doubt about its ultimate intentions. Let’s just hope against logic that something convinces Iran to reign it in before Israel decides to try to bomb it into submission. [Yahoo!]
