We live in the future, so chances are you’ve got all manner of gadgets flashing and beeping at you to remind you what’s happening on any given day. But your toast isn’t in on all that fun. And why shouldn’t it be? If you had something like the Image Toaster, it could be. And maybe someday you will.
Building upon the storied history of toasters that print on their output, the Image Toaster adds a little tweak to the practice. Instead of having to pick out an image yourself — lame! — the Image Toaster would peruse the Internet for one, picking it out based on Google Image results relevant to the particular day. On-top of that, it just looks nice, inside and out.
The system isn’t exactly perfect; there’s probably a better source for toast-pictures (maybe icons for the weather?) and the resolution of this prototype model is a mere six by six pixels. Still, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better use for an Internet-connected toaster, and let’s face it, they are coming. I mean, it beats the hell out of being able to tweet from your fridge, right?
