Sometimes it’s hard to comprehend how hauntingly desolate the moon is. This new panorama, just taken by the Chang’e 3 moon lander shows the chilling reality: it’s incredibly lonely up there.
Snapped by three cameras on the lander aimed level, 15 degrees up, and 15 degrees down, the full panorama is stitched together from over 60 individual shots. On the left, the photo shows the recently-disembarked Jade Rabbit rover, which has cruised about 10 yards away from the lander by now. Click here to see the full panorama. It’s ghostly. [Slashdot]
