The majority of the population will at some point have to contend with that dreaded icky feeling of spewing their guts as they ride in a train, plane or automobile. But why do we get motion sickness, and is there any way we can stop it?
In fact, it’s a result of our senses coming into conflict: vibrations and movement cause the fluids in our inner ears to mis-match with what our eyes see, and the result is nausea. Interestingly, it’s not just humans that suffer either: horses, cats and dogs have all shown symptoms, too.
