There are a lot of Bluetooth speakers in the world, but the new one from Ultimate Ears has stolen our hearts.
The undeniably cute Wonderboom is a diddy little speaker that – like UE’s other products – puts out a surprising amount of sound. It’s waterproof, can be paired with a second one for stereo sound, and comes in six colours: Stone (grey), Phantom (black), Fireball (red), SubZero (blue), Cashmere (pink) and Lilac (…lilac).
It’s not cheap at $129.99 in Australia, but UE’s products have served us well in the past. The company is part of Logitech and has built a reputation for hard-wearing, good-looking and great-sounding speakers. Plus if you turn it on its side, Wonderboom looks like a little robot winking at you. Aww.
For your dollars you get 360-degree sound, 10-hour battery life and 100-foot Bluetooth range. It’s IPX7 rated, meaning you can put in up to a metre of water for up to half an hour, and it floats. It’s drop-proof from up to five feet and comes with a colour-coordinated hanging loop.

Charlotte Johs, GM at Ultimate Ears, said:
“Wonderboom is a pint-sized, super-portable Bluetooth speaker with surprisingly big sound. And, just like the rest of the Ultimate Ears family, it’s also virtually indestructible.”
Normally we’d take that as a challenge, but who could bear to harm that little face? Wonderboom is out next month. We’ll be naming ours Marvin.
