I’m Completely Mesmerised By This Machine Whose Only Function Is Making Tiny Hedge Spheres

Video: Where there’s a will, there’s a way. And where there’s a repetitive job no human wants to do, there’s also a machine we’ve invented to do the work for us. Like the hyper-specific RAP 10 trimmer from Orlandi, the sole function of which is to trim tiny shrubs into perfect, aesthetically-pleasing spheres. Why can’t I look away?

If you have a couple of shrubs in your front garden, taking a pair of pruning shears to them every few weeks isn’t much of a burden. But when you’re growing shrubs by the thousands, the manual Bonsai approach just isn’t going to cut it. Pushing this around a massive field of shrubs all day seems like it might be an equally tedious task, but the satisfaction of watching it tame tiny shrubs, again and again, might just be worth it.
