Citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation, former Fortune.com editor Dan Primack reports that Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel will lead President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team.

Earlier today, The Huffington Post reported that Thiel’s name was under consideration for the position currently held by Chris Christie should the New Jersey governor step down.
One of Trump’s most high-profile donors, Thiel told The New York Times on Wednesday that he is unlikely to have a formal role within the Trump administration but plans on advising the incoming President.
“A page in the book of history has turned, and there is an opening to think about some of our problems from a new perspective,” Thiel told the Times. “I’ll try to help the president in any way I can.”
Gizmodo reached out to Thiel for comment, but had not heard back at time of writing.
