Misfits, E4’s dark (and yet sometimes campy) teen superhero drama about a group of juvenile delinquents, is coming to Freeform, and now we have our first information about who’ll be in the cast.

According to Deadline, Ashleigh LaThrop (Sirens), Tre Hall (Rebel), Allie MacDonald (Orphan Black) and Jake Cannavale (Nurse Jackie) have been cast as Misfits‘ titular group of teens, who gain superpowers one day while doing their court-ordered community service together.
Freeform’s take on Misfits is set to be a direct adaptation of the original E4 series, following Alicia (LaThrop), Curtis (Hall), Kelly (McDonald) and Nathan (Canavale) as they struggle to get their lives together and deal with the burden of their odd abilities. While it’s planned that Freeform’s Misfits will also feature a fifth lead — Simon, originally portrayed by Game of Thrones‘ Iwan Rheon — no news of that actor’s casting has been announced.
Between Squirrel Girl and Cloak & Dagger, Freeform is shaping up to be the home for moody meta human teenagers in the coming months, which could be fantastic. We can only hope that Misfits doesn’t fall victim to the same problems that killed the Americanised version of Skins a couple of years ago.
