Google is rolling out a new Android 2.3.4 update to Nexus S users in the next few weeks and other Android 2.3+ devices in the near future. What’s the biggie upgrade? Google Talk for Android is getting video chat.
The video chat feature will work as part of the Google Talk app pre-loaded on Android devices. Just hit the video chat (or voice chat) icon and you can talk to people on other Android phones, tablets and even people using Gchat through Gmail on their desktops. There’s been a ton o’ options to video chat on Android phones before – Qik, Fring, Tango – but none as ubiquitous as this. I’ll take Google Talk with video chat over Apple’s FaceTime any day.
