Another day, another drone — but this RQ-7 Shadow looks like it’s being launched in the vacuum of space against some lunar insurgency.
Through a combination of a serious photo flash and Afghanistan’s already moonlike surface, we get one killer view of Forward Operating Base Pasab in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, where American paratroopers are looking to do a little night-time spying. It’s pretty impressive that the Shadow is capable of being launched with a catapult for invisible observation, but don’t be too impressed; as The Aviationist earlier reported, the drone has been used heavily at night after the US Army realised the sun caused its wings to expand and start spraying fuel. Whoops. [The Aviationist]
