This image reminds me of an ovum — a female egg. But it’s not inside anything on Earth. It’s floating in the vastness of space about 9000 light years from here, in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It’s the Tycho supernova remnant.
It was captured by NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory but, if you told me it was taken by some electronic microscope, I would believe you.
Now I just want to be a cosmic spermatozoa and swim in there, like a Allenesque version of the Silver Surfer. [NASA Goddard]
