HTC appears to be dragging the Desire brand back out in front of everyone despite promising to stop making so many goddamn phones. The mid-range Proto will reportedly be sold as the Desire X and sit with the rest of the One lineup between the One X and the One V.
According to ePrice, the website behind the blurry image, the Desire X will have decidedly mid-range specs despite the larger screen — 4-inch 800×480 display, dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera, 4GB internal storage, Android 4.0 with Sense 4.0, and integrated Beats Audio just like any other One device.
The Desire X is said to be the international version of the China-exclusive New Desire V (formerly known as Dragon V). It’s been a rough year so far for the Taiwanese manufacturer, but I wish it would just decide on a name already and stick with its “fewer devices, amazing hardware” strategy. Expect full details when IFA kicks off later this week.
