I love this house, built in Rotterdam by Dutch architectural firm Shift. What a wonderful and perfectly executed idea: to build an entire four-storey-high house around a gigantic bookshelf that goes across all floors. It really looks beautiful — and useful too.
They call the project vertical loft.. It was part of the restoration of an old, historical house in the middle of the city. Shift’s had the idea to replace the central house’s wall with a beautiful, minimalist three-story-high bookshelf that hides the building’s main structural element.
