Foxtel Picks Up House Of Cards From Netflix

Netflix’s first inhouse produced series, House Of Cards will air on Foxtel from May 7th, with IPTV-based Foxtel users getting the whole 13 episodes in one go.

That’s exactly the model that Netflix itself used for House Of Cards, making the Kevin Spacey-led series (based on a UK original) available all at once. Foxtel says that Internet TV users — which means anyone using Foxtel Go, Foxtel On Xbox 360 and Foxtel on Internet TV with a subscription to Showcase will be able to watch the episodes on demand. Foxtel will also show the episodes on a weekly basis on Showcase, starting with a three episode marathon on Tuesday nights from May 7th at 8:30pm.

There will obviously be some Giz commenters unhappy with this particular move, at least in the aspect that House Of Cards went up on Netflix on the 1st of February, but it’s at least a step in the right direction in regards to IPTV possibilities in Australia. Baby steps, and all that.
