Even if you’ve splurged on the most capacious smartphone or tablet you can find, at one point you’re still going to run out of storage space. And in lieu of constantly swapping tiny memory cards, LaCie’s new Fuel offers a full terabyte of storage that’s available to your mobile devices via a direct wireless connection.
A built-in rechargeable battery keeps the Fuel running for up to 10 hours, and allows it to be used without a single wire until it’s time for a charge. Using Seagate’s free Media App, users on iOS or Android-based devices can wirelessly stream, backup, and copy files, or even send them to a compatible AirPlay device.
The drive can also wirelessly connect to a computer so as not to be a burden on your laptop’s own battery, but it’s also got a USB 3 port on board for quickly dumping large chunks of data over a cable. LaCie claims the Fuel will be available soon through its retail partners; no word yet on Australian pricing. [LaCie]
