No, it’s not just you. Twitter is down. The world’s most up-to-the-minute social network is having some problems with its website and first-party apps for iOS and Android.
As of 12:55PM, the social network’s web client stopped updating, and eventually timed out. The rarely-seen “something is technically wrong” page is up and down at the moment, too.
While Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, currently in Australia on a press tour for his side gig as boss of Square, is probably on the phone to the States right now, it seems the problem is bigger than just Australia — we’re seeing reports that US users are having difficulty accessing the service too.
Third-party services like TweetDeck are still up and running, suggesting the problem stems from a change within Twitter’s own configuration, and not the API it supplies to developers. We’re now 15 minutes into the outage, and thinkpieces by the dozen are surely being penned.
Twitter has confirmed this outage in a statement, saying: “Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution.”
Update, 1:35PM: Yep, still down!
Update, 1:50PM: Looks like it’s consistently back around the world. We now return to your regularly scheduled memes.
