Honestly, there’s going to come a time when cameras in the same vein as Hasselblad’s new X1D will be able to take photos of infinity. I’m not sure what infinity looks like, but we’re inching closer if these images from photographer Ming Thein are anything to go by.

Go ahead and hit up Thein’s gallery on Flickr for all 14 images (and an extra four of the camera itself). Fair warning though — the full-size shots will likely blow up less-capable gadgets, so if you’re still rocking and iPhone 4s, don’t cry if your phone spontaneously combusts.
The X1D should retail at the $14,000-mark in Australia, but expect to shell out a couple more grand for a lens. Yes, that’s the body-only price. Whether it’s worth it for the 50-megapixel, 43.8 x 32.9mm sensor is another question entirely, but there’s something to be said for snapping images that weigh in at 8272 x 6200.
For those that work in bits and bytes, that equates to about 65MB in Hasselblad’s RAW 3FR format, or 154MB, 8-bit TIFFs. I guess you should add a few dollars for a fat memory card too?
