Video: NASA’s Space Launch System rocket will be the most powerful booster humans have ever created. And to power that rocket, you need a big-arse tank of liquid hydrogen built with the largest welding machine ever made.
This is a timelapse of NASA completing the construction of the 40m fuel tank that will be a part of just the first stage of the SLS. Construction at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans is only the beginning, as the SLS will still need to be transported to Huntsville, Alabama, for structural tests before it starts firing humans into deep space and eventually Mars.
