Back in May Twitter promised it would be killing off the 140 character limit. No, this doesn’t mean you can now write walls of text, but quoted tweets, images and gifs will stop being counted as of today, meaning you can squeeze a few more words in.

Twitter made the announcement today, along with breaking the news it has begun testing upcoming changes to replies. Soon (we don’t know exactly when, but it is soon) when replying to a Tweet, reply @names will no longer count toward the 140 character count.
