Edimax Has A Portable 3G Wi-Fi Thingy Too

title=We’ve seen a couple of 3G Wi-Fi hotspot gadgets from both Virgin and Internode, but the both come locked to a network Virgin comes locked to a network that just happens to be Optus (the Internode device is actually unlocked). What happens if you want the same convenience on a different network? Why, you check out the Edimax 3G-6210n.

Sure, it’s not as sexy as the others are (you know you find 3G routers sexy), and it doesn’t actually integrate the SIM card into the device itself. Instead, you plug in a USB 3G or HSPA modem from your preferred network, and the Edimax device will use that to create a little hotspot for you, with 802.11n range and speeds.

And if you happen to need an office router as well, you can also plug this thing into your ADSL connection instead of using a 3G data connection. Which is a fair amount of functionality for a $199 device.
