Motorola has withdrawn its complaint with the International Trade Commission over Apple infringing on seven of its patents. No explanation was given, but maybe it has something to do with the $US1.05 billion Samsung was recently ordered to pay Apple for copying the designs of the iPhone and iPad.
Google (on behalf of Motorola) said in a filing that a settlement has not been reached — verbal, written or otherwise. So there isn’t a firm answer on why it chose to back off of a fight that started about two years ago. Maybe the Samsung ruling has other companies a little scared. [Reuters]
