Firefox OS caused a bit of a stir at a few months ago, and the first handset bearing the new software is finally hitting the market for purchase! The best part is that it’s cheap, and anyone can buy it.
ZTE has announced today that the Open Firefox OS phone will go on sale from Friday for $US79.99 via eBay. No need to worry about pesky carrier restrictions or whether or not it will come to Australia: you can just buy it and ship it.
The phone — intended for developing markets and hackability — is packing a 1GHz Cortex A5 processor, 256MB of RAM, 32GB of storage with microSD card expansion slot, a 3.5-inch capacitive TFT screen at a resolution of 320×480 and a 3.15-megapixel rear-facing camera, all powered by a 1200mAh battery.
You’ll be able to grab the ZTE Open Firefox OS from ZTE’s store on Friday.
