Overnight, HTC showed a video teaser hinting at an upcoming camera-type offering. Today, we’ve got more details, and a few glimpses at what that camera could possibly look like. Meet what looks to be RECamera, a periscope-like mini-camera that seems squarely aimed at the GoPro.
HTC hasn’t said anything official about the tiny cam yet, but Portuguese website 4Gnews says it will pack a 16MP sensor, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, and an app for remote control via Android or iOS devices. The looping video on RECamera’s teaser website also suggests it will be waterproof, or at least offer some kind of underwater case.
These images, sleuthed from dark corners of HTC’s website by a sneaky Redditor, show the cam to be a bit svelter than the boxy GoPro. We’ll have to wait until HTC’s official announcement on October 8 to know for sure. [4Gnews via BusinessInsider; Phandroid; The Verge]
