Last night, I experienced a moment of pure wonder. It felt like it was meant for me. Sick in bed, still coughing and sneezing at 3am, I absentmindedly checked my smartphone. To my astonishment, a tiny blue spark appeared on my screen.
Tapping it, my phone became a window into a miniature world worthy of Pixar. A lovingly hand-drawn boy and girl literally danced through life, growing to become the couple you see above. I followed them around the darkness of my room, eager to see the course of their lives unfold through my tiny window. It felt like magic — for a moment, anyhow.
This morning, I discovered it was not remotely magic; merely serendipity that I saw Google’s new animated experience “Duet” at the perfect time and in the perfect place to appreciate it. It was simply the perfect moment for veteran Disney animator Glen Keane’s work to touch me the way it did.
