On paper, the idea of the original April O’Neil (Judith Hoag) meeting the new one (Megan Fox) in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows movie seems clever and fun. But now that the scene itself is online, you can easily see why deleting it was absolutely the right decision.

Here’s the scene:
This is a great example of why I consider myself a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Most movies would have included the scene purely for nostalgia’s sake, but as you can see, there’s nothing to it. Including it would have unnecessarily bogged things down, and the film wisely avoided it, opting to keep the pace both fast and exciting.
So, even though it was probably difficult to shoot and Hoag would have been a nice addition to the movie, director David Green wisely relegated the scene to the Blu-ray, which hits stores September 15. I’m glad I finally got to see it, but I’m even more glad that I had to wait to see it instead of it being part of the film.
