Some things look familiar, some things look really different, and few things have changed a lot in this first tease from the sequel to Blade Runner.
The beginning of this footage, which premiered on Entertainment Weekly, seems to show the gloomy and neon Los Angeles we saw in the original movie. And then, things change — everything’s washed out and yellow, there’s sand and a giant head, and Rick Deckard’s (Harrison Ford) got a gun.
Here’s the official synopsis of the Denis Villeneuve-directed Bladerunner 2049:
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Well, at least this footage proves that K does find him. We’ll find out what happens next when the film is released on October 6, 2017.
