The Surprising Place Aquaman Sits On The DCEU Timeline

Aquaman

Longtime DC Comics movie producer Charles Roven has reconfirmed to Cinema Blend that Aquaman will not be a prequel to the events of Justice League but will instead be set after it:

Aquaman will make reference [to Justice League]. There will be some reference of something that preceded Aquaman that will be in Aquaman. I believe that is the intention.

… James [Wan] definitely knows where he’s going with [Aquaman], and that movie takes place in a world where Justice League happened, and Man of Steel happened, and Wonder Woman obviously takes place before Man of Steel — except for the bookends we have. So that’s where we have the most ability to freeform. We could do a movie that takes place after Justice League, we can do a movie that takes place after Batman v Superman… well not really. You can’t do a movie in between Batman v Superman and Justice League, but we can do movies that take place after Justice League and we can do movies that precede Justice League.

Justice League Dark

The latest episode of the Meet the Movie Press podcast states Argentinian filmmaker Damián Szifron is now in the running to direct.

Transformers: The Last Knight

A special Memorial Day promo has been released, discussing the franchise’s history of working with the military.

Jurassic World II

The film’s refreshingly succinct title and logo have been revealed — although it’s worth bearing in mind a subtitle could easily get added between now and the time the movie is actually released.

Glass

M. Night Shyamalan gave a status update on his script’s progress.

Riverdale

Cole Sprouse, who plays the brooding Jughead on the show, believes season two will be “darker” and “stranger” than the first:

I think the whole show is going to be getting darker and stranger. We’re going to be leaning into a lot of those qualities that a lot of people ended up loving in the first couple of episodes — this heavy cinematography, this overbearing coloration, this really dark content that’s kind of over-the-top and campy, but it’s taken very seriously.

Arrow

Speaking at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in London, Stephen Amell revealed season six’s overarching theme concerns “family”.

The theme of season five was legacy. From what I understand, the theme of season six is family.

Amell was also adamant that there will never be a musical episode of Arrow — not on his watch. Booooooooo!

The Defenders

Jessica Jones and Trish Walker run afoul of the NYPD in a new set of photos from filming.

Castlevania

An international poster recreating the cover for the original NES Castlevania has been spotted at Famitsu.

Iron Fist

An announcement about the second season is coming soon, according to Finn Jones at the Puerto Rico Comic-Con.

Gotham

David Mazouz, li’l Bruce Wayne himself, told Movie Pilot he thinks it’s possible the show could cross over with The Flash. Maybe. Somehow. Thank the Speedforce!

I feel like we could easily do a Flash crossover, because he travels in time now. The biggest obstacle before The Flash came out, when it was just Arrow, was that Gotham is set in the past and Arrow was set in the present. We were not in the same time period, so how could we possibly do a crossover?

However, now that we know time travel was not only introduced, but widely used in the Flarrowverse with Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash, it’s very plausible that a crossover could happen, because they could come back in time and visit Gotham. I would totally support it. I’m a huge fan. I think that would be awesome.

Dark Matter

Syfy has released synopses for the first two episode of season three.

Episode 3.01 – Being Better Is So Much Harder

The survivors of the EOS 7 bombing fight to stay alive and find the rest of their crew.

Episode 3.02 – It Doesn’t Have To Be Like This

The crew of the Raza targets an Ishida research station in an attempt to take back the Blink Drive.
