Supergirl is adding a key new character when it returns for its third season next month: Saturn Girl, a founding member of the Legion of Superheroes, a team from the 31st century (that Supergirl has occasionally been part of), and whose presence has been previously teased on the show.

Stepping into the role of the telepathic alien (who’s also known as Imra Ardeen) will be Amy Jackson, a British-born actress who is largely unknown stateside, but is a huge star in Bollywood. Saturn Girl will have a recurring role on the CW show, and Deadline reports she’ll be “a kind, smart, and strong-willed hero who uses her telekinetic ability to help those in need. She was born on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, and arrives on Earth to help Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) battle one of her biggest threats.” Her appearance won’t be a total surprise for viewers, since a Legion flight ring has shown up twice in the various DC/CW universes — once during one of the Flash’s trips across the multiverse in “Welcome to Earth-2”, and again in Superman’s Fortress of Solitude on Supergirl in the episode “Solitude”.
Outside of the DC comics, the character has previously popped up on Smallville as well as in animated form, including on Superman: The Animated Series. Supergirl returns October 10 to FOX8.
