Looks like we’re going to have to wait for at least one more normal winter for Game of Thrones‘ super-winter to get here. HBO has confirmed the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones arrives in 2019.
The final season, which is currently in production, will be only six episodes long – but they will increase in length, with some being nearly as long as Hollywood films. Executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will direct and write in the final season – sources previously told The Hollywood Reporter they will be in charge of the series finale. David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be the other directors for the new season, and writers include Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.
