Despite the blow of not having the Google Play Store or any Google Apps on its devices, Huawei is still reportedly pushing forward with the Mate X launch next month.
Huawei CEO Richard Yu said as much at IFA 2019 but according to Chinese website Sina, a customer service rep from the company has confirmed an October release for the foldable handset.
The Mate X has had a few delays already, which may have been something to do with Samsung’s abysmal first attempt with its Galaxy Fold which saw the handset plagued with a number of issues.
Huawei stressed that the delay was made in order to give app developers more time to redevelop their software for the Mate X’s wider screen and to perform more thorough tests to ensure it was 100 per cent 5G ready which is something a phone touting itself as a 5G device should definitely be getting right.
The launch date has yet to be officially confirmed, but you can check out the Galaxy Fold vs the Mate X in the meantime to decide which foldable is the one for you.
