Everything is under control. Situation normal. We’re all fine here, now, thanks. How are you?
According to Reddit, one of the Waratah trains travelling between Sydney’s west and the CBD arrived at Burwood station at 1:26PM before promptly… blowing up.
The canopy over the top of the front of the train carriage somehow detached during the incident, and ended up on the station platform nearby — apparently flying from the train’s line on platform 3 around five metres to platform 5.
Nobody was seriously hurt, although emergency services were called to attend to one person on the train with minor injuries from a fall.
Here’s a video of the aftermath, from jmogul on Reddit:
We’ve contacted Transport for NSW to find out exactly what happened.
#NorthernLine 13:02 Epping to Central service will now terminate at Burwood due to a train requiring mechanical repairs at Burwood.
