An Austrian production of French Revolutionary opera ‘Andre Chenier’ is set to start in July, on the banks of beautiful Lake Constance. Not quite so beautiful is the eery, incomplete, massive human torso (with 15m head) that provides the stage.
I can’t tell whether adding eyeballs would make it more creepy, or if the empty gaze of enormous gaping sockets is the absolute worst. Still! I’m sure it’ll be a pretty good show – and certainly not the theatre’s first ominous stage. Just don’t get stuck there at night, when the mammoth opera lake man rises to feed on the local populace.
