What do you do when the GPS market for driving navigation is a bit saturated? Branch out into GPS for other activities. Garmin’s been doing this for a while with golf-centric GPS devices, and its latest, a golfer’s GPS watch, claims to know 27,000 golf courses.
27,000 is a lot of golf courses, but thankfully Garmin’s Website lists where it’s got coverage, both in terms of nations and at a more granular level each course; the Australian page listing is here.
Aside from knowing the lay of the land, the Approach S3 is also said to be rugged and waterproof (although you probably shouldn’t be golfing out in the rain), will keep score for you and provides a view of each green that it knows about.
The Approach S3 goes on sale next month for $399. I’m not a golfer, but it does make me wonder — how long would it take to play through 27,000 golf courses, including travel time? [Garmin]
