Facebook is testing its own version of Pinterest. It’s called “Facebook Collections”. It adds clickable buttons to posts about products from retailers, which then adds it to a personalised page that reminds you to buy it later.
AllFacebook reports the Facebook Collections feature has been enabled for several retailers, including Pottery Barn. A collection page looks like a photo album but behaves something like Amazon’s wish list — users can keep track of objects they’d like to buy.
We’ve known this type of funcitonality was coming ever since Facebook started testing a Want button in recent months. Yes, it’s Facebook’s job to make money, but we can’t help but wish that everything online didn’t turn into a massive opportunity to sell us crap. [All Facebook via Ubergizmo]
