Thousands of people have probably glossed over the decorative little clock on PayPal’s Political Campaigns page without a second thought. But if you look closely, you’ll see the watermark that proves this e-commerce giant really isn’t so different from you and me — because apparently, PayPal hates paying for stock photos too.
From what we’ve been able to find, this seems to be the only illicitly used bit of stock photography, and it’s more likely the result of a lazy designer than any conspiring higher-ups trying to save a buck. And if it was somehow just an accident, it takes a lot of blind eyes to miss a garish little detail like that. With all the money moving through the site on a daily basis, you’d think shelling out to get rid of the watermark would be a no-brainer.
We’ve reached out to PayPal for comment and will update as soon as we hear back from them.
