Disney movies almost always have happy endings but in order to get to the living happily ever after part, some pretty dark things usually have to happen. But they’re not as dark as the original stories the movies are based on. Those are basically horrific tales of torture that have been cleverly repurposed to entertain kids and sell toys now.
ScreenRant goes in on the origins of popular Disney movies like Tangled, Pinocchio, Snow White, Cinderella, Frozen, The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty. Basically the evil villain in any of those movies are way more cruel in the stories and the heroine is not always so lucky or so nice. For example, Ariel was tasked to kill her Prince to get her mermaid tail back and Sleeping Beauty gets assaulted in her sleep. Yeah, dark.
